Erich was born a left-hand amputee, and as a member of The
War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program, he is eligible
for financial assistance for artificial limbs and recreational
devices, as well as regional seminars.
“The War Amps has been an important part of my life
since I was very young,” says Erich. “I’ve met kids just like
me through the seminars and I’ve been fitted with devices so
that I can participate in activities like weight lifting. I’ll always
be grateful to the war amputees who started this amazing
organization 100 years ago.”
Executive Director of the CHAMP Program, Danita
Chisholm says, “Although we have come a long way in the
last 100 years, there is still much to do to ensure amputees
like Erich have the artificial limbs they need to lead full and
active lives. With the public’s support of the Key Tag and
Address Label Service, our commitment remains to improve
the lives of amputees long into the future.”
Donors may also choose to leave a gift or charitable bequest in
their Will to help The War Amps continue to meet
its commitments to amputees. For
