They ’ re Keeping Romance Alive !
In response to our winter contest , here ’ s our winner ’ s submission , from reader Cathy Barnes :
“ I recently came across a valentine card my husband gave me the first year we were married 1975 .
To my valentine bride : True love is not smooching in a parked car and the guy runs out of gas and the gal says she loves him ... It ’ s years later when they ’ re smooching in the living room and he runs out of gas . And she still says she loves him …
Not to worry romance isn ’ t dead , it ’ s about the little things in life . Here ’ s an example ; last year when I turned 60 , coincidentally we were roofing our house – yes that ’ s right , the two of us . On the morning of my birthday my loving husband insisted I go back up on the roof to check out our handy work while he stood on the ground ... Well to my surprise he had seeded a large portion of our back yard in the shape of a heart ... Not your average birthday card ... So you see , romance isn ’ t dead it ’ s growing in the backyard !”

For Bill Arp , age is just a number . He recently lost his wife and rather than folding , he has now sold his home , bought this “ 5th wheel ” and is exploring a new phase of his life .
“ My buddy John and I like to travel and play Poker . So Vegas here we come ,” says Bill . “ At age 80 I figure I may have 5 maybe 10 years of active life left and I feel this may be a good way to go abut it .”

My spring poem is based on this That spring is like a tender kiss it approaches in a gentle way and gets warmer with every passing day . And the wonderful feeling it bestows is like a delicate flower as it grows when mother nature reaches out her hand and spreads beauty all across the land , for like a kiss that warms the heart spring is only just the start it will soon be on its way and like a tender kiss … be welcomed every day .
