Coconut Oil: For natural
tooth & gum care
Still Using Mouthwash?
Mouthwash can irritate and cause canker sores
because the alcohol content is too high for the
sensitive and delicate skin inside the mouth. Some
studies have even included that some mouthwashes
are linked to oral cancer,
raising blood pressure
and even risk of heart
attack and strokes
due to the Corsodyl
ingredient.
Using organic coconut oil in the mouth as a rinse has many
benefits. It has been shown to whiten teeth, reduce harmful
bacteria in the mouth, reduce plaque and Gingivitis, and bad
breath. Many people have even reported improvement in health
issues that had nothing to do with the mouth – including
digestive issues. The process is called “oil pulling” and it was
done hundreds of years ago by native Indians. It involves taking
a teaspoon of oil (we prefer coconut because of its more palatable
taste) and swishing it around the mouth for 15 minutes. Once
15 minutes have passed, spit into the garbage or toilet – not
the sink as this may clog pipes over time. Try this once per day
before brushing, for a week to begin seeing
positive
results!

Even those
mouthwashes
without alcohol can
contain astringent
salts and germicides
too strong for use,
and may unbalance
the natural flora in
he mouth.
