A ll I had to ask was, “are you alright?” in order to make a difference in someone’s life. The young man was pushing his motorcycle on the sidewalk in front of my home, and he looked exhausted. He told me he had been pushing it for two hours because it had broken down and he needed to get home, and nobody offered to help him – even though he had asked a few people along the way. We live busy lives and sometimes helping someone may be an inconvenience... or maybe it’s because we’ve all been tainted by the ‘don’t talk to strangers’ bit, but that doesn’t excuse the smallest acts of consideration everyone needs to continue making EVERY DAY. So here’s what I’ll ask of you: Please read page 18 and try to make a difference. Do your bit. Be the change. I wrote that article because it’s a HUGE passion of mine, and because many of us don’t realize how much damage a single act can have in the long run. Everyone wants something in return, right? So what I’m doing is providing three contests for a chance to win great prizes! Sound fair? If you think the young man’s story is not tied to the article I mentioned, nor to the contests, think again... It is. Every opportunity helps us live in a better world. That after all, is what we’re all striving for. PS: And please #SkipThePlasticStraw. You don’t need it. facebook.com/silverandgoldmagazine @silvergoldmag /silverandgoldmagazine @silvergoldmag Suzanne Soto-Davies Founder & Publisher, Silver and Gold Magazine [email protected] www.ipao.ca Silver & Gold Magazine ~ AUTUMN 2019 5
