What Stories (Crazy or Not) Did They Share?

Goldstein’s core idea behind Three Day Rule came from her observation that many of the ex-partners of her clients had similar features, particularly in terms of face shape. Once they hired a CTO and developed and implemented the technology behind facial feature-based matchmaking, Match.com invested in Three Day Rule. Now based all across the U.S., the company has never looked back.

Kelton of BOD has a unique app: it allows you to split on a bad date, helping you find a new partner nearby so you “can move on with your night.” The story that Kelton highlighted, however, took place through the dating app OkCupid.

Here it goes: a single man and woman saw each other at a cafe in Marina del Rey, initially thinking one another was their OkCupid date. They had a mutually enjoyable conversation, but parted once their actual dates came. Both the girl and guy had deplorable experiences on their date that night, but fortunately, they were able to find each other on the app a few months later. The two have now been married for a year and a half.

Use a full-body shot as your profile picture on dating apps— they increase your likelihood of getting a response by 200%. Avoid making group photos your profile pic, as this will decrease your likelihood of getting a response by 50%.

• Don’t have pets in your pictures on a dating app.

• Describe and show yourself authentically on dating apps. Don’t have pictures of you partying on your profile.

• Don’t use selfies or Snapchat filters on your dating profile.

• Men should wear blue or a warm color to attract dates.

• Women who wear red get more dates, along with more money spent on them during those dates.

• Men tend to like women wearing a lot of makeup in their photos, but don’t like it, as much, in-person.

• Use your intuition when deciding to go on a date with someone. Don’t be afraid to cancel.

• If you’re the first person to message, include a question in your message. This will make it more likely you’ll get a reply.

• Also keep in mind that your initial message should be short— absolutely no longer than five sentences.

• Be aware: political differences can be a deal breaker.
