JOIN CONNECT FAMILY OUR PATRON PROGRAM AND TO THE SIGNATURE ASK THESIGNATURESTAFF What was your first experience with Signature? Sarah Dell’Orto Grants Manager My very first Signature encounter was as a freshman at NYU when I attended Lanford Wilson’s Burn This. I was so taken with what I saw that the following year I had the NYU registrar provide me with proof of matriculation and handed over $45 of my own money for a student subscription (this was pre-Signature Ticket Initiative!) to the Bill Irwin season. It was the first subscription of any kind I had ever purchased, and the act – both of buying the subscription and subsequently attending each play by myself—felt grown-up. I’ve been a Signature devotee ever since. Sheree Grate Bookstore Attendant My experience with Signature began when I was an intern. I had just moved to NYC and I was fairly new to the whole theatre community. The first time I walked into the Center, though it was in its final phase of construction at the time, I couldn’t believe how huge it was. Finally, after seeing the first show and the amount of people that attended, I really came to appreciate its purpose. It’s been such an inspiration for me to see hundreds of talented artists and audience members gathered in one spectacular space. I came with a friend of mine who was lucky enough to have some spare tickets his mother couldn’t use for The Piano Lesson. Before the show started, I looked down at the ticket and saw it was $25. Aghast, I turned to my friend and asked if his mom knew someone in the cast or someone who worked at Signature, and he said “No, I think that’s just their thing.” That show turned out to be one of the best pieces of theatre I’ve ever seen. Having the opportunity to be a part of a theatre company that is as accessible and amazing as this one is a dream come true. 21 Betty Rauch and stop. reset.’s Ismael Cruz Córdova.
