Mes de Danza

The 26th Edition of the International Contemporary Dance Festival (also known as Dance month) is back at Maestranza Theatre, considered as one of the best avant-garde theatres in Spain. On the 4th and 5th November, the Teatro Victoria from Tenerife brings to Seville a series of short dance pieces by choreographers from Canary Island. For tickets and more information click here.

Mes de Danza continues on the 7th and 8th November, with the The Danza Mobile/ INcubo Teatro company presenting “El festín de los cuerpos”, a dance piece based on Plato’s philosophical text The Symposium. Choreographed by Manuel Cañadas, Ana Erdozain and Parilla, this piece is based on the movement of bodies and its diversities. For tickets and more information click here.

Opera: Samson and Delilah

The Bible and opera merge in “Samson et Dalila” by Camille Saint-Saëns, a work full of passion, hate, seduction and exoticism. The story of the Hebrew General Samson, seduced by his enemy Philistine Delilah, hides a moral fable about chastity and lust that inflames the hearts of the spectators. The duel between a man with the appearance of titan and a woman who ruins him by cutting his hair, a symbol of his strength. Nancy Fabiola Herrera and Gregory Kunde are also a high-voltage operatic couple at the height of such a duel. Flamenco: “Sombras” by Sara Baras

There are many styles of flamenco and one of the most identified styles is by Sara Baras, a flamenco dancer and choreographer. Well-known for the heel-stamping, a profusion of off-beats and other musical skills, Sara Baras presents “Sombras”, a dance with 13 beautifully choreographed pieces at the Teatro de la Maestranza on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th November. Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville

The Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville was founded in 1990, and since then they have put on a wide variety of events ranging from traditional to contemporary symphony concerts. They have recently begun their concert season 2019/2020 and the next concert dates are on 28th and 29th November at the Teatro de la Maestranza. The programme will consist of pieces by the prodigies: Felix Mendelssohn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Spanish violinist Leticia Moreno. Buy your tickets here.

De Profundis Show

Antonio Kilates dancing, Blanca Galán singing, Lola Yang on the guitar, and as a guest artist Carmen Espejo on the flute. De profundis is a poetic and musical tribute to the famous Federico García Lorca. A show that, like the poet, oscillates between tradition and avant-garde in a flamenco environment in which the touch, dance and singing will be the protagonists. All the arts come together to invoke the tragic and cheerful spirit that represents the eternal figure of the Andalusian poet.
