In a few exceptional cases where technical reasons (such as faxes or newspapers) demand it, the logo can be used in black. Other colors are not permitted. The logo must appear confident and uncluttered in its own space. It should always be clearly legible and harmonize with the other design elements. To make sure of this, there is a defined protected area around the logo, where no other e ­ lements are permitted. On all sides, this space is at least one c ­ apital height (x). There can be no taglines or other a ­ dditions to the logo. Only the logo may be in petrol. For simplified cross-media use, the logo and layer form a unit together with the bleed – the logo?/?layer form. 8 Only the Siemens logo may stand on the white layer – no tagline or other elements may be added.
