Amy Paints in a Child-Like World That Looks Similar to PBS Kid's Cartoons Like I Spy and Nick's Spongebob Squarepants, Using it as a Platform for her Abstraction
Amy Stober is an artist and student currently living in Baltimore, Maryland. She is studying painting at MICA and will receive her BFA in 2016.
When Amy first saw the cover for this months issue she asked us a question we took very seriously, "Just curious, but what is it about my work that reminds you of Basquiat?" I couldn't tell if she was upset because she didn't like Basquiat and loathed the fact her name was paired with his in the same sentence without the words "cutting his junkie balls off" between them, or if she was upset because it seemed like an easy way to marginalize and describe her work. As it turns out it was neither of these and she wasn't upset at all. Paranoia
