Sid's Opened Lid - Reincarnated Issue 6 February 2018 | Page 27

Joshua is constantly writing during his free time while he isn't bartending or living his normal life. He sees everyday as a new day and wakes up seeing it as a challenge that he must overcome. A superhero that tackles the struggles of everyday life and tries to help others in the process. When I asked him if he wanted to be part of this issue he replied "Of course! I love to help anyone I can and writing is one of the best ways I can do so." Sometimes writing can do more than anything else. Actions may speak louder than words, but writing is an action in and of itself.

"I am lucky in that I have so many friends. A few years before I came to the New York area, I decided that I would be friends with everyone. I saw this guy who did just that. He walked into a room and he’d beeline through it to the person he knew. He would shake hands along the way with others, and he captured a room. I found that to be such an endearing trait. This guy was a politician at heart, which in retrospect changes my view, but the idea remained that I wanted to be that friendly.

Throughout my years since then, I have built a few different friend groups. I have my friends that I had going to the bar. I have friends I met at the pizza place. I’ve had my friends I’ve met randomly. I’ve had my Jersey friends and New York friends. And sometimes, they all come together pieces at a time for events. The one thing I realize is that with the fast paced world, keeping connected is hard." - 100 Days Healthier Me, Day 66: Connect with a Friend
