THE MIC
One of CICK’s newest shows is called The
Liv Shack. Named for its host, Olivia Pojar, the ‘Shack is a Monday night music show on which you might hear unreleased demos from the 1980s punk and garage scene or a sad country ballad or even a pop hit from the fiesty little Australian herself, Kylie Minogue. It’s such a crazy (and fun) mish-mash of tunes, we thought we should ask Olivia what’s it all about. [sic]: What’s your show and what is its content in a general (or specific) sense? OP: The Liv Shack. Pop from many decades, independent music from the 90s and 2000s, with some psych, soul, classic rock, country, and folk, depending on the evening. [sic]:What’s your background? What inspired you to take the plunge and become a radio host? OP: I grew up in Smithers. My radio heroes are Tom Scharpling, Clyde Gilmour, and Northern Exposure’s Chris in the Morning.
[sic]: What’s your favourite thing about being a CICK host? OP: The train car. [sic]: What are the most memorable on-air moments so far? OP: All the mistakes. [sic]: What are your Desert Island discs, three albums you could not live without if you were stranded on a desert island (with power and the means to play music)? OP: I’m pretty sure I’d survive without music.Three albums I could play over and over without throwing into the sea would be In An Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel, Ancient Melodies of the Future by Built to Spill, and I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got by Sinead O’Connor. Check out The Liv Shack on Mondays from 9 to 10 pm.
