WACKEN OPEN AIR 2017 Every year, fans are looking forward to be told the first names for the festivals they will be attending the next year. Maybe even more so in the case of WACKEN OPEN AIR. The festival has been sold out in just days over the past year, not even having released a single name for the upcoming year. That would be hard to do, since the ticketsale starts just a few days after every edition. Like every other festival, WACKEN is releasing the first names for the year to come around this time, and we gladly offer you our view on the matter. As you can expect from a festival the size of W:O:A, the variety in bands and genres, is pretty amazing. Even with the first names out, you can see that. WACKN has around seven stages on which they let bands perform, and each stage has it’s own atmosphere. That makes for tons of opportunity’s to place different style of bands on your line-up.

AMON AMARTH have played at W:O:A before. Their dragon infested music, made the infield explode on more then one occasion. And it’s easy to see why. They sound brutal and pr imal, and they look the part. But at the same time, their music calls for a large crowd. They don’t seem to have any kind of trouble, gathering that crowd, with their explosive live shows. Their recently released album “JOMSVIKING” will only help them to convince more to come and see them. APOCALYPTICA are around for 20 years now. The band has changed the heavy music scene. They were one of the first, to bring have music, on classical instruments. To celebrate this fact, they rereleased their “PLAYS METALLICA BY FOUR CELLOS” album, and added three bonus tracks. W:O:A always looks for some relaxing moments on stage, and APOCALYPTICA may just do that. With their refund music, their well orchestrated tunes and their epic atmosphere, the band will not only bring some relaxation, but also some epicness on stage.
