IO PAGES FESTIVAL
For the first time the magazine IO PAGES organized a festival, with the same name . The event took place at ‘POPPODIUM DRU CULTUURFABRIEK’ in Ulft, The Netherlands. The venue made for a very nice setting, an old factory that has been turned into a concert and theater hall, with a nice bar and some other cozy rooms for all kind of activities. In the first place the event was organized for progressive rock performances. Beside these shows you could also go to the second floor, where you could watch documentaries and live shows or participate in a few workshops. A very nice concept for a festival. It was not only for adults, but also for young people and even kids. And there were a lot of different nationalities, from Norway to England to France and many more. Overall the whole event took place in a cozy atmosphere. The music performances started with MARCEL SINGOR. The bandleader is a very talented guitar player from The Netherlands. A big name in the rock world. The music was very accessible, but not really my style. But generally it didn’t scare me. I’dd like to chill on this music on hot summer nights with my friends. The band itself looked a bit weird because every member was so different in style. It’s like they don’t belong together. The overall atmosphere in the venue was rather cool at that time, a problem that is found in all genre’s and styles. It can take some time to warm up a crowd. But all in all, it was an okay performance. A LIQUID LANDSCAPE played a good set. The singer created a very nice atmosphere by performing on his bare feet. I really liked that. A LIQUID LANDSCAPE started their performance with only an acoustic guitar, which was really nice. Later on in the set, they used some other instruments. The songs they played were so chill. I like to hear this on summer festivals while I lay down in the grass, in the sun, with a cocktail in my hand. The lightshow they used was epic and created a special atmosphere. With straight lines of light, shining on the moving band members, an illusion of floating wavs of light was created. And after all I loved the humoristic touch, brought by the singer. The third set we have seen was from LESOIR, a progressive rock band. The vocalists in LESOIR sounded more powerful then some of the previous bands. They sounded more like the vocals in bands we bring you more often. And it was nice they used a lot of different instruments. The show was packed with fairy dust but also with a lot of rock elements. Both in the sound and the general appearance. And when they are performing it looks like they all
