PERFECT.

Now, the real fun began. Madysen started posing and I started shooting and it was fabulous. I got a number of fantastic photos that I still have to edit. After that round of posing, we changed it up a bit, working on a pose inspired by a photo of Madonna that my wife showed me awhile back. I love this photo because it’s kind of a terrible photo, but despite that, Madonna’s commanding presence is unmistakable.

With that photo as inspiration, Madysen lounged back on the couch, and I took a test photo.

I knew right away I needed to make an adjustment. With Madysen now posing against the couch back, the main light (on the stand with the flag) was no longer illuminating her. This was an easy fix. All I had to do was swing the light to the right a bit so that it would hit Madysen again.

In making this adjustment, some light is now spilling on the wall. I could have fussed with it to prevent it from doing that, but in evaluating the shot I loved the way it looked, so we went with it. After a couple more shots to refine the pose, we got the shot

All that was left was editing, which brings us to the final shot:
