The Turf

Now that we ’ ve picked out the whiskies , you need a good cigar to go with it . Drawing a total blank ? That ’ s okay . I got you . Picking cigars shouldn ’ t be a headache either . There are thousands of options at different price points and magnitudes ranging from sweet and spicy to woody and earthy . Medium flavored cigars can go with just about any whiskey , any type and strength . It ’ s a failsafe . I would recommend a Tatuaje Cigar . They have a beautiful range in both strength and price . Start out with El Triunfador . A medium bodied Cuban style cigar rolled in Nicaragua with a traditional box press . It ’ s one of the milder cigars offered by the cigar master Pete Johnson with tones of damp earth and dark roast coffee . Mellow enough to last throughout a long day on the links . If it ’ s July and you ’ re out on the fairway , do you really want to be drinking a 135-proof whiskey and smoking a full-bodied cigar for 18 holes ? Granted , there are some out there that do enjoy that and there is nothing wrong with it . In the end , it ’ s all a matter of taste . Personally , I would stick to the lower proof whiskies and the light to medium bodied cigars for sessionability . The longevity of the experience is much more mellow and enjoyable . Because in the end isn ’ t that what we ’ re all looking for ? The best damn time possible with the best people we know ? Absolutely . And don ’ t forget , drink intentionally .
