Welcome to the curiously Brit...( ish) island of Jersey. A place that’ s familiar, with a delightfully continental twist. Think, British pounds and French place names, cream teas and croissants, Bretonstyle seafood and good old fish and chips.
Stretch your legs around Jersey’ s dramatic coastline and discover a breathtaking landscape where gentle countryside meets sheltered bays on the south coast and a craggy coastline greets the Atlantic Ocean on the north shores. On Jersey’ s more wild west coast, take in sweeping sand dunes teeming with wildlife and catch a spectacular sunrise in the east.
The capital is St Helier and, whilst small, it is a buzzing cosmopolitan harbour town and the main hub for the island’ s shopping, eating, entertainment and nightlife.
Jersey is also crammed with award-winning attractions and places to visit. Uncover the island’ s past at magnificent castles, emotive war tunnels and hands-on museums that bring history to life. Spend time also at fascinating wildlife and adventure parks, quaint fishing villages, beautiful private gardens and luxury spas. Jersey also serves up a complete alphabet of outdoor pursuits, be that invigorating adventure or a memorable family experience.
Getting around is easy. For maximum flexibility, we recommend hiring a car to seek out hidden beaches, exploring the glorious coastline and finding some off-the-beaten-track places. Alternatively, take the more sustainable approach and make the most of the extensive island-wide bus network which covers all of the main places of interest. Jersey is also a paradise for exploring at your own pace, be it on two feet or two wheels.
The perfect mild climate, maze of cycle paths, walks and 45 miles of‘ Green Lanes’, make blazing a trail around the island a pure joy.
From field to fork in the time it takes the tide to rise, Jersey packs a rich and colourful larder into its nine by five miles. From beach cafés and village delis to luxury award-winning restaurants and olde worlde country pubs, Jersey’ s food is special. Tuck into a serving of island life and discover local eating is as fresh as the sea air.
We should also mention that it’ s the sunniest spot in the British Isles!
