Seahorse Designs was developed in the Winter of 2003 during a snow storm. My first show was Stitches East, an international knitting show sponsored by Knitter’s Magazine. At the time she was making specialty knitting needles, crochet hooks and stitch markers. Doreen also used beautiful exotic woods, sterling, and crystals.
Doreen received her BS in Business from Monmouth University. Her day job is as a Site Controller for a nation-wide company
with a large resort
in Atlantic City.
She also serves
on the Board of
the South Jersey
Jazz Society and
on the Board as
Personnel
Secretary for the
Atlantic Pops Community Band.
Meet Doreen Hambro. Doreen's aunt taught her to crochet when she was five. She had her stand in front of her to learn because Doreen is left-handed. "I was “hooked” (pun intended, lol) immediately." Says Doreen. She crocheted everything she could imagine. She made tote bags, ponchos, blankets, and innovative “dusters” that slipped over your hand and had hand hooked fringe she added with a rug hook. Then when Doreen was eleven, she borrowed a book from the library and taught herself to knit. As a result she knits right-handed because there were no left-handed instructions available.
