Responsible, step forward!

Accenture consultants are confident that the pandemic and technological advances will accelerate the retail transformation process. A recent study cited by the +1 media project involved 655 retailers from 26 countries, finding that 86% of them use DARQ tools. These include Distributed Ledger, Artificial Intelligence, Extended Reality, and Quantum Computing. DARQ allows you to optimize business processes and give consumers a new experience of interacting with the product. According to another 83% of respondents, in the future, companies that develop on-demand delivery (goods can be picked up from a courier or from a pick-up point at any convenient time) will become more competitive in the future and allow customers to customize orders, including applying their own ecological habits.

Marks & Spencer Market Place: Advisors Teach Package Free

British supermarket chain Marks & Spencer Market Place is moving away from plastic bags and packaging and collecting plastic for recycling at points of sale. One of the London shops sells more than 90 types of vegetables, fruits and berries without plastic packaging and labels. Food can be placed in paper bags or fabric mesh bags. Eco-consultants also work in the department - they tell you how to bring purchases intact to the house without packages and how to store them correctly. Marks & Spencer Market Place plans to phase out over 580 tones of plastic over the next two years. The number of plastic bags used by customers has already halved compared to 10 years ago.

In collaboration with eco-activists Plastic Bank, the retailer has also released a reusable shopping bag. It is made from 75% recycled plastic collected by the people of Haiti and the Philippines. These countries are among the poorest and most polluted with plastic waste. As part of the initiative, local residents exchange the collected plastic for money, getting the opportunity to pay for food and housing.

Pure Shops by Lush

The Lush beauty brand not only produces cosmetics from natural ingredients, but also opens eco-friendly stores - naked stores. All products - solid shampoos, bath bombs and even shower gels - are sold without packaging. Customers take their cosmetics home in reusable containers or cosmetic bags made from recycled materials. Buyers learn the composition of the product, expiration date, storage rules through the Lush Lens application. Artificial intelligence recognizes the product photo and displays information about it. The app also contains educational articles and videos on the dangers of plastic, and the stores themselves give lectures on the conscious consumption and recycling of waste. Lush's first naked stores opened in Milan, Berlin and Manchester.
