Becoming A Virtuous Business Leader By: Tammy Polk Many of us strive to be a Proverbs 31 Woman. We look at the attributes of the Virtuous Woman and believe we are on our way. Yet, we never consider the fact that this woman was a leader in BUSINESS. Have you ever asked yourself whether virtuous qualities apply to business? It can indeed. Virtue means that you having a sense of moral excellence. In other words, you make a conscious effort and decision to do what is right. When it comes to business, the attributes of the Virtuous Woman still apply. How so? Proverbs 31:15 states, “She riseth while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.” (KJV) Now, you may be wondering, "What does this have to do with leadership in business?" Let me tell you. A virtuous business woman treats her employees with respect. She pays them a competitive wage and values their work. She rewards and disciplines them with dignity and professionalism. Let’s take a look at each one of these. First, no employee wants to work for a woman in leadership who is unwilling to do what she asks others to do. Also, they don’t want to work 37
