Reaching Joy after a Life of Pain
By: Angeline Lawrence
I had the pleasure of interviewing one of our contributors, Chef
Dolores Lee. Also known as Dee Dee, Dolores is an accomplished
chef and business owner. She recently ventured into new territory
as a published author. Behind her beautiful smile and warm laugh
is a woman who endured sexual abuse as a child by the hands of a
few family members. She also endured a nasty custody battle, which
pushed her to a breaking point. We discuss her forthcoming book and
the journey from the edge of darkness to a rekindled love for God.
SNM: What is the title of your book and why you decided to write
it?
DL: The title of the book is, Kissed by the Fire; and to be honest I wrote
it because the Holy Spirit told me to twice. I woke up in the middle
of the night I heard the voice of Spirit say, “Write your book.” My
first thought was, “What book?” Number one, I don't write. I'm not a
writer. I never knew how to write a book or what that entailed. My title
changed six times. The writing part of it, I believe, God used to help me
heal from a lot of things, as well as the potential to help other women.
