In 1986 the College embarked on its first overseas trip, a four week study tour to Italy and Greece. For a number of years the College had raised money for pontifical missions, so on Saturday, May 3, 1986, twenty students and five adults from Sacred Heart were granted the exceptional privilege of a private audience with the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II. The Pope presented each person with specially blessed rosary beads and, following his formal address, chatted informally with the group whilst the official photographers clicked their cameras.
Since then Sacred Heart has continued to believe in a holistic education that maximizes students' opportunities to learn about themselves and the world. There have continued to be many trips overseas. These are wonderful educational and life experiences for the students. Students have been able to visit Italy, Greece, France, the Philippines and New Caledonia.
Overseas Trips
