Sherman ISD Building Bearcats Magazine Summer 2017 | Page 6
As the 2016-2017 school year draws to a close, I want to take a moment
to reflect on the wonderful accomplishments of our staff and students.
We started the year with what became known as, “the best convocation
ever,” highlighting the tremendous power that educators have as
difference makers in our children’s lives. The themes Building Bearcats
and Bring it Back resonated throughout our community, acknowledging
the roles that everyone plays in our schools, homes, churches, businesses, and throughout the
community, as well as honoring the great traditions of excellence established by generations of
Bearcats.
Previous editions of the Sherman School & Family magazine have talked about some of
our innovative programs, featured inspiring educators and introduced you to students and
administrators. This issue of the Sherman School & Family magazine focuses on wrapping up
the year and celebrating accomplishments across the district.
Make sure you take the time to discover what it feels like to be a graduate in the “Walking
the Walk” feature, and celebrate with Sherman High School senior Sydney Cleveland, whose
clothing design earned her a trip to the National FCCLA competition in Nashville, Tennessee.
Also, take a minute to get to know our 2017 Valedictorian and Salutatorian, Eleanor Lopez
and Jordan Dick, and learn about the educators our students chose to honor in the Sherman
Education Foundation Circle of Success program.
While our students and families are enjoying a restful and fun summer, our staff will continue to
work hard to prepare for the coming school year; a year that I’m certain will be the best yet! As a
district team we will continue to relentlessly pursue our strategic goals including recruiting and
retaining the very best teachers and staff, expanding co-curricular and extra-curricular activities
