Who doesn’t take a moment this time of year to pause – especially after the
difficult winter so many of us have experienced – and reflect on how the new
season brings renewal and the chance for fresh beginnings?
This issue of “Shenandoah” includes several stories of renewal and beginnings, illustrated so well so
close to home in Berryville, Va. Following a chance meeting between Laura LaFontaine White ’70, her
daughter Patricia White and Pharm.D./M.B.A. candidate Bo Spires at a scholarship recipient luncheon,
the former White’s Pharmacy in Berryville is “reborn.” Laura and Patricia have partnered to open
Battletown Pharmacy; Bo will manage it and, eventually, buy it. The legacy of pharmacy visionary the
late Dr. Eugene V. White lives on.
As well, we bring you stories of how alumni James O’Reilly ’13, and Jessie Hooker ’10 are finding new
paths and opportunities to use their talents and take their experiences at Shenandoah on to new heights,
