Sign the Beam Health & Life Sciences Building

During a foundation celebration on
Aug. 22, Shenandoah University President
Tracy Fitzsimmons, board of trustees
members, alumni, donors, construction
and architectural representatives,
distinguished guests, students, faculty, staff
and community supporters signed their
names on one of the steel I-beams that will
become the framework for the new Health
& Life Sciences Building on main campus,
a lasting foundation for this new campus
footprint. The celebration honored the
opportunities and possibilities provided by
this new addition to campus.
Virginia’s Secretary of Health and Human
Resources William A. Hazel, Jr., M.D.,
delivered the keynote address at the event.
PA-C. Division Chair Rachel A. Carlson,
Ed.D., MSBS, PA-C, said “It was great to
have so many alumni and current students
in one room; the sharing and networking
that occured was amazing to experience.”
The most recent class graduated in
December 2012 with 31 graduates, bringing
the total number of Shenandoah University
PA alumni to 272. The Class of 2015
enrolled in July with 44 students.
“What we are trying to do here is a lot
bigger than a building,” he said. “This is
an environment that gives you a chance
to teach…learn…and build the habits of
caring, compassion and lifelong learning.”
“This building will be a very significant
addition to the Shenandoah campus,” said
Chairman of Shenandoah University’s
Board of Trustees Andrew Ferrari. “It’s
