The University of Montevallo Kinesiology Department is hosting TWO FREE yoga camps this summer! Mom & Me Yoga Camp For parent and child (children) ages 6 -11, June 9 – 13, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm in the Bibb Graves Dance Studio on the UM Campus. The Great Campout On Saturday, June 28th thousands of families across the nation will pitch tents in their own backyard to take part in the Great American Backyard Campout. The one night event is organized by the National Wildlife Federation, with the goal to get kids and families into nature. The National Wildlife Federation declares that kids need to spend more time in nature. They are challenging families nationwide to dust off the tent, unroll the sleeping bags for some quality family fun in your own backyard. For more information go to, backyardcampout.org. Make sure to visit your local library and sign your kids up for their 2014 summer reading program. W ondering what to do on a Friday night? Well, wonder no more just grab a blanket and maybe a picnic basket and head out to one of these local parks for a free, family friendly outdoor movie. Alabaster Friday Night Moves will be held at Alabaster’s Veterans Park. The free movies are scheduled for June 20th, July 11th, July 25th, August 8th and August 15th. The shows will begin around dusk. Helena Sundown Cinema will be held at Helena’s Amphitheater Park. The free movies begin June 6th and will be shown every Friday night until August 8th. Show start at 8:00pm and no outside food or drink is allowed. Hoover Free Friday Flicks will be held at Veteran Park. Movies begin May 30th at dusk and will be shown every Friday night until the end of July. You are also encouraged to come early to enjoy vendors, food and fun activities.
