Campers will learn baking, torting, crumb coating, and decorating with buttercream and fondant. Each child will leave camp on Wednesday with an 8” decorated cake, a certificate and a cap. The Pelham YMCA offers week day summer camps for May 27th to June 27th. Camps are open to children grade K to 8th grade. Students are broken up in two year blocks for camp. They offer general, sports and aquatic camps. Campers will be active and outdoors most of the day and also participate in crafts, skits and field trips. The Hoover YMCA offers week day summer camps for May 27th to June 27th. Camps are open to children grade K to 9th grade; campers are divided up into two year blocks. Camps are offered in week blocks from May 27th to August 1st. Campers are divided into age groups ranging from 5 to 15. Campers will be active and outdoors most of the day and also participate in crafts, skits and swimming. Each traditional camp includes a field trip. The Shelby Country Arts Council offers three weeks of summer camp. Theater camp runs the week of June 9th for students 6 to 18. Students are divided into age groups and work to produce a full scale musical in one week. Fine Arts Camp is offer the week of the 14th for children 5-8 and the week of the 21st for children 9-12. Campers work on learning painting, pottery and music. Summer camp is offered in 1/2 day (with a choice of morning or afternoon) or full day options. After and before care is offered on limited sessions. Programs are offered for 11 weeks for student 4K to 6th grade and on limited weeks for 7th to 9th grade. Camps focus on creative, educational experiences in the hard and soft sciences. Also, Northern Edge Hockey will offer two summer camps at the Pelham Civic Center, both occurring on June 9th to 13. A half day ‘Complete Player’ will help players continue to develop and strength their overall hockey skills; all ages, levels and positions accepted. A full day ‘Hockey 101’ is aimed towards players under 12 with basic skating ability. In both camps players will receive on and off ice training. Goalies and girls accepted.
