“You have to find what works best for you. Find
something you would do for free, and do it. Don’t
worry about what others say, do what works for
you and your family.”
T
his month’s Mompreneur of the Month is Mrs. Amy Henson,
Owner of Tootlebugs, a personalized monogrammed
clothing and gifts business. Amy is a Shelby County
Alabama-bred mother of three, who turned her hobby into a
business. Amy admits, “I have always
wanted to learn how to monogram, and
I always told my husband that I wanted
to learn.”
Amy thanks the lack of cute boy clothing
for making her into a monogrammed
extraordinaire. During her son’s
naptime, Amy worked diligently to
master the art of sewing. Amy’s strong
work ethic drove her from a beginner
seamstress to a six needle monogram
machine expert. She turned her
naptime hobby into a thriving business.
Now, she’s a self-made mom.
Amy launched Tootlebugs from her
home in 2009. Currently, Amy balances
her life by working from home. She calls
a typical day in her life, a “Controlled
Chaos.”
Amy offers this advice to aspiring
entrepreneurs, “You have to find what
works best for you.” She goes on to say,
“Find something you would [do] for
free, and do it. Don’t worry about what
others say, do what works for you and
your family.”
