It’s hard to believe women just first got the right to vote in the United States roughly ninety years ago. Even so, it is mostly within recent history that women have gotten to be shown in power, be it supernatural or governmental. From Teen Wolf's alpha Cali from the alpha pack to Stirba of Howling II, women have finally begun to become nasty creatures of the night...Yet, beauty and sexiness must remain.

Even 1944's Cry of the Werewolf, the werewoman is a gypsy princess, even though she is white and has gorgeous blonde hair. Though, it's to be said that most pop culture's werewolves tend to remain pretty hot unless transforming into actual wolves, like Jacob Black. In Teen Wolf, they sprout mutton chops, fangs, and just some more hair--of course, their six packs are still in view. But why is this attractiveness extended to most creatures of the night?

Luckily, some shows get it pretty right--like Hemlock Grove. The transformation is gruesome and violent, with eyeballs falling out and skin being ripped off, as though the wolf has been grown inside. Though there are female wolves within the show, they are not shown transforming--likely because it ought to be done in the birthday suit.
