CALL TO SCHEDULE A CONSULTATION 843.230.5303 [email protected] One can hardly imagine what Fred’s schedule must look like on a weekly basis. Thankfully, his family is there to help where needed. “My wife is the Program Director, and my children train at the studio. When they are not training, they help at both the shop and studio. My wife pulls it together with her strategic planning because both businesses are very demanding. We take advantage of the small things, such as time for a family dinner, and we are able to take small trips here and there.” Barber, instructor, family man… what else is on the list? Motivational speaker, of course! Fred has touched many young lives of the community with his testimony for 14 years. “I enjoy sharing my story and encouraging others to live like champions. The message I try to relay is that what they do today will impact their tomorrow.” Fred feels it is important for today’s young males to understand what real men are supposed to look like. He tells them, “You can be a strong, successful, and loyal individual with high standards.” Having come from a single parent home, Fred shares stories of his own struggles, and dispenses words of encouragement for beating any odds they may be up against. “You can’t change the past, but you do have control over your future.” It is his hope that all kids, including his students and own children, will remember that integrity and loyalty are everything. And most importantly, he says, “All a person has at the end of the day is his word.” As for who taught him how to be the man he is today, he gives all credit to his uncle. “He taught me everything from riding a bike to the importance of being a man of my word. He inspired me to become the best business man, father, and husband I could possibly be.” There’s no doubt in my mind that Fred took these words of wisdom to heart, as he constantly works to teach his children valuable morals. “I teach them about honoring God’s Laws and commandments, and understanding the principles of seed and harvest. I believe that in order to expect a harvest, you must first plant the seed. It doesn’t matter if it is spiritual, financial, or physical… you must be willing to do your part,” he says. And surely, Fred is doing his part - not only in helping the kids of Marion bloom to their potential, but by spreading positivity and encouragement in a world where it’s desperately needed. Fred Gause resides in Marion with his wife, Ronile, and their four children: Fredasia, Frederick II, Ahmad and Ranilah. He is the owner and operator of Fred’s Barbershop and Champion Martial Arts, both located on Main Street in Marion. shemagazine.com June 2014 73
