Saying Farewell To My Past

My heartbeat danced to a rythmn and song that played in my head;

So many people said farewell.

Fighting back my tears that caused me to choke on life instead

So many people who didn't believe in me just said farewell.

My inner being watched me try to hold onto what little piece of hope that I had left in me;

I am crying out for someone to hold my hand along the way.

Those who said farewell left my side they truly left me;

All alone they nodded for me to find my way.

The reflection from the sun chased my shadow as it became one;

My tears burned the concrete as they greeted each other.

My lips began to hum;

As I remembered the hymnal in my head as we greeted each other.

I breathed just once more;

As I agreed to love again.

Finding myself one day at a time once more;

Because love found me again.

I left those people who said farewell;

Behind me.

Finally I said farewell;

Because the past is behind me.
