She Is... February | Page 25

Fearing for our sons because of all those lynching’s.

Injecting our men with Syphilis because they wanted to emasculate and stop

the birth of our men.

Snuffing the life from our babies beating them until they were unrecognizable.

Strapping them to an electric chair and watching as the life was snuffed away from them.

Taunting us because we were not able to drink out of the same fountains that they were privileged to drink from. I guess they felt as though our “Blackness would have rubbed off on them’’.

Walking the Green Mile to their next destiny because that “nigger raped me”. We couldn’t sit down at the same lunch counters as them, fearing the worse that maybe just maybe their pale skin would change instantaneously.

Our communities were introduced to crack to keep us enslaved.

Keeping us in bondage, snuffing away our innocence.

Innocence was taken away from us even we walked to the store, laying on the couch, stopping at a stop sign, selling CD’s, driving a nice car, and rolling us up in a gym mat! Even when we were set free hundreds of years ago we are still slaves.

We are still held captive.

We are still in bondage because we were born KINGS AND QUEENS!

Also, we are so much more than our athleticism, our curvy hips,

our full lips, our skin tone that God breathed into our pores.

They sold our organs feeling as though they had more to profit from.

I am venting and speaking for those who can’t even speak for themselves.

Even when we are proven to be innocent we are STILL GUILTY.

So please pardon me for being so UNAPOLOGETIC for the VOICES THAT WERE STOLEN.
