Shaw & Sons utilized these processes while pouring large 500-yard slab pours on grade and elevated high-rise decks . Adopting these techniques for installing surface-seeded aggregates is useful and was patentable . A few of our proven installation steps that are often skipped by our competitors :
A . Clean aggregates thoroughly . If this is not done , or Clean Mt . Airy Aggregate Ready for Surface Seeding done properly , the dirty aggregate will pop out during routine maintenance or with traffic over time .
B . Subgrade preparation . Expansive soil and salts in the soil can cause problems in concrete and need preventative barriers .
C . Not using a vibrating float can cause void space in matrix and surface installed aggregate . All concrete and materials need consolidation after placing .
D . Power trowels were never used in surface seeded aggregate due to the mishaps that commonly occur when power troweling . However , having highly skilled finishers , patience and concentration averts these mistakes . The machining process has proven to be a successful method for creating denser surfaces .

E . Final washing after curing removes efflorescence and opens concrete pores for sealing . Using our own specified sealer of hydrolyzed lithium quartz provides higher surface tension and resistance to use and abrasion .
