Craftsmen Specification 12 - Topping Slab Application Includes Craftsmen specification slip plane construction ( Patent Pending ) Dowels epoxied on one side ( to sub slab ) of a panel and slip doweled to the next panel . Also includes patents for use of 1 / 4 ” stainless steel dowels for topping slab areas that are 2 1 / 2 ” and below in thickness .
Craftsmen Specification 12 solves the problem of topping slab curling and eliminates excessive cracking . Shaw & Sons not only invented the most popular concrete doweling system but also the answer to get rid of common problems in topping slab applications . This proven design uses typical checkerboard or strip pour methods and subsequently conforms L-shape panels that secure one end to the existing sub-slab and floats the other end by Fas Dowel TM doweling horizontally into the next panel . This secures one end to the sub-slab vertically with an epoxied dowel and the other end horizontally with a slip dowel into the next panel that is secured again vertically by epoxied dowels into the existing structural deck .
Specification 19 was used to construct the steps and Specification 12 secures the topping slabs and eliminates cracking and curling . For the overall finish , Specification 9 provided a lightly profiled surface .
