“ The paving design of the Pasadena Conference Center Expansion was inspired by the historic Pasadena City Hall . The new entry plan for the Pasadena Auditorium built in 1931 , flanked on both ends by new Conference Center buildings , contains ornate patterns of integral color concrete , Lithocrete and brick . The concrete work by Shaw & Sons had to be precise in its layout so the brick infill would contain full brick modules without cutting . Their skill at matching concrete color with existing materials is evident with the new Auditorium stairs and the existing balustrade . I appreciated the extra coordination with other contractors to ensure that the entire entry plaza was as successful as envisioned .” - Matson Walter , Melendrez
