Shaw and Sons has been joined by the best “ stamped concrete ” people in the industry : Marshall Barabasch Sr ., Marshall Barabasch Jr . and their crews . This enables Shaw & Sons to offer an even broader range of finishes for theme parks and public parks , such as Del Valle Memorial Park that require such specialty textures .
The Del Valle Memorial Park underwent a renovation that included restoring the 45 foot long Marine Corps Douglas F3D-2 “ Skynight ” fighter . Meyer and Associates ’ design replicated the deck of the USS Intrepid , and Essex class aircraft carrier where the plane was once stationed . This was achieved with stamping and coloring the concrete to resemble a historic wood deck .
Various shades of seeded Lithocrete ® blue glass fade into each other to represent water around the carrier . Presto Wall Finish was used to revitalize the existing plane pedestal . Both the plane and deck are dramatically lit at night .
