Meet the Drs. Barrett
Dr. Sophia Barrett is Assistant Professor in the COM. She earned her Bachelor’ s of Arts( B. A.) in psychology and criminal justice from Siena College, a Master’ s of Science( M. S.) in forensic mental health from The Sage College of Albany, and a Master’ s of Art( M. A.) and a Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in DC. Her internship in inpatient acute care was completed at the Behavioral Wellness Center in Philadelphia. She completed her post-doctoral training in forensic psychology at Forum Ohio, a group private practice in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Barrett has experience in conducting a wide range of forensic assessments and therapeutic treatment, including cognitive behavioral, trauma-focused, personality and mood disorders. She has professional and research interests in area of the provisions of mental health services to the severely mentally ill in correctional setting and communities of color.
Dr. Jason Barrett is Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. He earned his Bachelor’ s of Science in Nursing( B. S. N.) at Marymount University and his Doctor of Medicine( M. D.) degree at Saint James School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency at Charleston Area Medical Center at West Virginia University. After successfully finishing his residency, Dr. Barrett completed two fellowships. His first fellowship was in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and the other was in Addiction Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine. His committee participation, presentations, and professional memberships span both the local and national levels. He regularly volunteers time engaging in community activities.
