An individual student’ s annual costs are:
• Full tuition scholarship: $ 69,000 per year, including all fees.
• Cost of living in Los Angeles as a student: $ 40,000 per year.
You will not be alone in your support, as other people and organizations have already stepped up. L. A. Care, the Universal Music Group, and the Palo Alto Medical Group Foundation have donated to this inaugural class thus far.
With 60 students per class, we need many more Angels. Our financial goal is $ 4.14 million dollars per year so that our students have a tuition free medical education to ultimately work in under-resourced settings without the burden of enormous debt.
To help us reach our goal of providing scholarship support for this inaugural class, here is the link to give:

Checks should be made out to Charles R. Drew University with the memo line: College of Medicine Inaugural Scholarships and mailed to the address above. All donors to the scholarship fund are invited to meet our students at a welcome reception scheduled for the evening of Thursday, July 13th.
Elsewhere in this newsletter is an interview with CDU alumnus Dr. Rasheed Ivey. His story illustrates the importance of your support very well, as well as the new MD program.
Won’ t you help us? We are counting on you. Our incoming cohort of 60 students and I cannot thank you enough. You will truly be Angels!
Sincerely,
Deborah Prothrow-Stith, MD Founding Dean, CDU COM MS Program
