Gail Washington, DNS, PHN, RN, FAAN Dean, Mervyn M. Dymally School of Nursing
Dr. Gail Washington, Professor, and Director of the recently named Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing received her Associate Degree in nursing from Clemson University, Clemson South Carolina; BSN Cum Laude and MSN with outstanding academic achievement from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, and a Doctorate in Nursing Science from Louisiana State University New Orleans, Louisiana and received the outstanding dissertation award. Dr. Washington’ s research interests include health disparities among vulnerable populations and instrument development.
In 2013, Dr. Washington received international recognition for the inclusion of her Modified Reminiscence Functions Scale in the Behavioral Measurement Data Base Services( BMDS) 2013. This database is the world’ s most comprehensive international database of measurement instruments for the health care sciences.
Dr. Washington has published in multiple peer-reviewed research journals, contributed to book chapters, given poster and podium presentations at national conferences, and has been the principal investigator for several federally funded grants. She served on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Health & Medical Informatics.
