Orthopedic surgeon Eleby R. Washington, III, MD, has been affiliated with Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science for over three decades. Theodore Friedman, MD, PhD
Department Chair of Internal Medicine
Theodore C. Friedman, MD, PhD, is the Chairman of the Department of Medicine and the Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Molecular Medicine and Metabolism. Dr. Friedman is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. He is also an endowed professor in Cardio metabolic Diseases. He is the director of Diversity-promoting Institutions Drug Abuse Research Development Program( DIDARP) at CDU. He has published over 120 papers in peerreview journals and wrote the thyroid and adrenal chapters for the widely-read textbook, Cecil Essentials of Medicine. His basic science research interests are in the effect of drugs of abuse on the endocrine system and specifically on nicotine and insulin resistance.
Lisa Barkley, MD
Department Chair of Family Medicine
Dr. Lisa Barkley is the Family Medicine Residency Program Director. She also serves as Department Vice-Chair and Associate Professor. She is triple board certified in family, adolescent and sports medicine. She is program manager of the University’ s urban family medicine residency program.
Dr. Barkley received her M. D. at Temple University School of Medicine and completed her residency in family medicine at Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, PA Her focus is patient centered, quality care and health care education, chiefly in adolescent populations impacted by health disparities.
Richard Findlay, MD
Department Chair of Pediatrics
Richard Findlay, MD is Board certified in Pediatrics and in Sub-Board of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of the West Indies and completed his residency in Pediatrics at the King / Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
In 2000, Dr. Findlay became a Health Sciences Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California at Los Angeles, School Medicine and in 2002, he became Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science, Los Angeles. Dr. Findlay joined as the Chair of CDUS’ Pediatrics Department in 2005 and Chair of CDU’ s Appointment and Promotions Committee in 2008.
