Lance A. Williams, PhD | Editor
Dr. Lance Williams is a consultant to the Dean of the College of Medicine. He is a member of the core team developing the 4-year independent medical project. He has edited and published over 500 articles and essays in wide variety of publications including the Los Angeles Times and Sentinel, and various academic journals. He is co-author of The Anatomy of a Record Company: How to Survive the Music Business( 1981). He is a member of the California Jazz and Blues Hall of Fame.
Dr. Williams’ doctoral dissertation in Anthropology, Innerface King / Drew( UCLA, 1975) was an ethnographic study of the early history and culture of the King / Drew medical complex. He also served as a cultural researcher at CDU’ s Franz Fanon Institute during the 1970 / 80’ s period.
He has taught at sixteen colleges and universities including UCLA, USC, The Claremont Colleges, Loyola Marymount and four CSUs. For thirteen years, he was a nonprofit CEO. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and a co-founder of Okapi Architecture, a women / minority owned firm.
Erin Johnson, MS | Contributing Editor
As a Memphis, Tennessee native, Ms. Erin Johnson’ s commitment to global health and health disparities has encouraged her to pursue a professional degree in medicine. She’ s earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Spelman College and her Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Charles R. Drew University( CDU). During her undergraduate years, Ms. Johnson was active in the Global- STEM Program, conducting research abroad in Madrid, Spain and heavily involved in nonprofit programs that help children connect with their incarcerated parents. Ms. Johnson completed her Masters at Charles R. Drew University College of Science and Health. She received a Leadership Award from the CDU’ s College of Health and Science for leading a dialogue on Global Health and is President of the Preconception Peer Educator( PPE) Club at Charles R. Drew University. Ms. Johnson is an artist of“ feministic expressions” and enjoys all things outdoors. Currently, Ms. Johnson is working in the College of Medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in the Office of the Dean as the Executive Assistant.
Sarah Harris | Graphic Designer
Sarah Harris is the president of SuiteEvents, a creative services and marketing firm, and publisher of Suite Life SoCal Magazine. In 1997, Sarah joined Personal Services Plus founded by renown Southern California event planner, Wendy Gladney, where she served as an assistant and self-taught graphic designer. Sarah has had the privilege of working with over a hundred organizations and business of which, in part, include: the Office of Councilman Curren Price Jr., City of Inglewood, USC Marshall School of Business, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, Black Business Association, YWCA of Greater Los Angeles and many more. Sarah’ s efforts have been recognized by several entities such as at the: Black Business Association 2003“ Salute To Black Women” Awards Luncheon; Recycling Black Dollars 2006“ Masters of Publishing” Honors Luncheon; Urban Issues Breakfast Forum for her contributions to the monthly dialogue forum for five years; and Sarah was chosen by Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas as the 26th District’ s Small Business of the Year at the 2008 California Small Business Association’ s annual Small Business Day Awards. Harris grew up in Riverside, California and attended Scripps College in Claremont where she studied Humanities and Fine Arts. Today, Harris resides in Los Angeles with her son, Xavier who currently attends Tuskegee University.
