Multilinguism Danish: All students study their mother tongue. There are special learning programmes for newcomers. We got to know many students who were refugees from the Syrian war. We were told that Danish is a difficult language to learn as a foreign language. English: in general Danish students have a very good command of the English language. Danish television broadcasts all films in the original version with Danish subtitles. Deutsch: older people can speak very good German. Long ago there was only one TV channel in English and Danish people used to watch TV in German. For teenagers, although they live next to the German border, German seems to be a foreign language.
