ict Editor’s letter Shaping the Future is more than just the title of this magazine. It’s a movement! Read further as Editor-in-Chief Elizabeth Jae explains its meaning and purpose behind the cause. A s you may know by reading the cover articles, the title “Shaping the Future” is more than just a title. It is a phrase with meaning and purpose behind it. “Shaping the Future’s” idea originat- ed from coversation between myself and Breina. In conversation, we spoke about body shaming and the importance of guiding the world more towards focusing on a person’s accomplishments and gravitate away from judging the body type of an individual and the way they appear to the naked eye. I am one that doesn’t like to be redundant, but I would like to reshare a snippet from my introductory piece for the “Shaping the Future” article on page 33. S preading the word about “Shaping the Future’s” purpose and mission may have an impact on many who are struggling with their self-esteem. Helping them to understand that their accom- plishments are not based upon the size of their bodies, but the signifi- cance of the desires in their hearts. What they are willing to do to get to that place of success and purpose. Awareness conversations and movements such as these could help evolve and broaden how we think about plus size males and females around the world. Being careful not to judge someone based upon their appearance or size. Understanding that if we don’t continue to tackle these topics, we will remain a part of the problem that causes a group of people a lot of pain and heart- ache. We must work hard to deny our negative thoughts of plus size teens and focus on providing support and resources to those who are working towards something that is of significance to all our futures. Whether it’s through cosmotology, modeling, farming or entrepreneur- ship, we all can benefit from the positive movements and desires of these four young ladies.
