Christian-Jewish Relations

AJC has a long and distinguished history of strengthening connections between the Christian and Jewish communities. AJC worked directly with the Catholic Church to shape Nostra Aetate, the groundbreaking 1965 document that revolutionized Catholic-Jewish ties. Our efforts helped initiate a relationship based on mutual respect, common moral goals, and a commitment to fighting antisemitism.
Today, that relationship is stronger than ever. In the same spirit, we are proud to work closely with the leadership of diverse Christian denominations to confront anti-Jewish hate and support Israel’ s right to exist in peace and security.

Muslim-Jewish Relations

Just as AJC transformed Christian-Jewish relations in the 20 th century, we are doing the same for Muslims and Jews today. Through thought leadership and interreligious engagement, AJC promotes Muslim-Jewish understanding and tangible action for the good of both communities in the U. S. and abroad. We bring together Muslim and Jewish leaders in the U. S. to confront hate crimes, antisemitism, and Islamophobia on the national and local levels. Even when our communities are confronted with differences that threaten to divide us, the resilience of our relationships allows us to close gaps in understanding and focus efforts on tangible action for the common good.
In 2020, AJC and the Muslim World League led a historic joint visit of Muslim and Jewish leaders to Auschwitz. This was the most senior Islamic leadership delegation to ever visit a Nazi death camp.
