The Chronology
Of Yes
heather sweeney
Dear John,
meet me in the shallow end
of this defaced canto
I’ll be your new Panna
a kind of superficial stimulation
site of California at our feet
a wafer of time I should tell you
my sister is Lana del Rey my sister
is Audrey Hepburn who generously
haunts us into ripening relation
a sequence of sounds collecting
between us where no words fit
no world of yesterday so dear
to say to dare you are the book
I turn to without rhyme or safety
to say you are the pale rabbit
I live under uninjured and conjuring
a numb rainstorm here is a poem
for wanting the crest we are witness
to this chronology of yes this design
