T
he 2nd races in the Shanghai
Running park race series was
recently held at Gucun Park.
There was another good turnout to
contest the junior under 13 and under 16 – 5 km race and also the adult
5km, 10km and half marathon races
in the series.
Weather conditions were hot and humid, with bright sunshine, clear skies
and no rain to be seen.
The programme of races started early
to avoid the mid day heat and the
first race to start was the Half Marathon at 9.00am followed the school
race and lastly the 5km and 10km
adult races started simultaneously.
All the runners were encouraged to
take part in the warm up given by
Audrey Gordon.
The junior races also incorporated
a school team point’s race with the
first 2 boys and first 2 girls from each
team, scoring points for their respective teams, based on their finishing
positions. This was once again well
supported by Shanghai United International School whose Hongqiao
campus won the under 13 team race,
with their Gubei campus winning the
under 16 team race.
