“ How did you become a Shaman ?”

One of the questions that comes my way is , “ How did you become a Shaman ?” I reply with something unexpected ; “ I ' m not a Shaman . I ' m a Shamanic Practitioner and a Shamanic Counselor .”
As I explain in our workshops , the title of “ Shaman ” is one that true Shamans will avoid using . The reason for this is simple : it is a label of a person who lives a very challenging life , one filled with constant tests and it represents a person who has been in the shoes of many others who face a myriad of challenges .
Can you understand why someone would not proclaim this ?
