t was expected. Typhoon
Yolanda, internationally
coded as Typhoon Haiyan, was approaching the small country of the Philippines. And the radars gave a pretty decent "heads up". In response, the PH Governement, who's been thorugh a countless number of times in the same situation, began to make preparations in haste. Food supplies were stored and distributed, evacuation sites allotted, and everyone on high alert. Yet, despite said efforts, and much more, what hit this nation of islands extended to and reached such extreme intensities, it not only wiped out the vast majority of homes, schools, churches, buildings and roads, but Typhoon Yolanda was actually labeled as "the most powerful tropical cyclone of the year." The devastation left the Filipino people in shock and horror.
But the Philippine has been embraced with open arms of nations around the globe. Countries everywhere are coming together in a united effort to help a grief-stricked brother in need. Numerous instances of support, aid and relief have been trickling in since the time of destruction. Whether it be countries offereing financial help, such as Australia's generous donation, or countries sending in specialized medics, those from Germany and Hungary, or search and rescue personnel, those from Israel, or even transportation means such as aircraft and ships from the United States, slowly, the world is helping the Filipino people pick up the pieces. Even in the most tragic of events, hope is only being strengthened. Despite the horrific aftermath, love has seemed to find its way back into the people's hearts and prevail. Those who say other wise can take a good look at those pictures capturing the rubble and mess sprawled across the streets, yet with litle children smiling amidst it all.
