Shakespeare & Me
Young fifth grade pupils from Greece and Bulgaria worked together in a
Virtual e-class community to share and present their learning experiences
about Shakespeare and his world. The project inspired a brilliant interaction
between Ralleios Experimental and Hristo Smirnenski Primary schools
about the pupils’ explorations and responses to the theme, a wonderful
production of Romeo & Juliet and a theatre workshop on Hamlet.
William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare was born on
23rd April 1564 and died on his
birthday 52 years later, in 1616. He
was an English dramatist and poet.
In 1954 he helped to found the
“Lord Chamberlain’s Men” and
worked for them as an actor and
playwright.
Shakespeare wrote most of his
greatest plays between 1599
and1608. Shakespeare learned
Latin and Greek because he loved
the tragedies of Aeschylus and
Sophocles. He wrote “Hamlet”,
“Romeo and Juliet” and the
comedy “A Midsummer’s Night’s
Dream.
He also wrote 154 sonnets. His
