EDITOR'S LETTER
Hello everybody, welcome back to our magazine shades!
Did you like our second issue? We hope so.
April has finally arrived and, with it, also Easter! Do you know what Easter is? Let me explain it!
Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus from the tomb on the third day after his crucifixion. Remembering the resurrection of Jesus is a way to renew daily hope that we have victory over sin.
According to the New Testament, Easter is three days after the death of Jesus on the cross.
Here in Naples, Easter is very important. On this special day, we use to eat Pastiera Napoletana, this ricotta cake is flavored with orange-flower water and a sweet pastry cream. If you are in Naples in this period, you
MUST try it! It’s one of the best cakes ever.
In this issue, you can find an article about Easter island, a Chilean island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, and some ideas to decorate your house for Easter, recycling and protecting our environment, our Earth. Our place.
Often we forget how important Earth is, that it is also a pretty unique place in the universe that has great biodiversity - both in plants and in animals. That value can hardly be measured Earth is our home, and we don’t have another planet to go to. We are the custodians of earth, and we have done a pretty lousy job in keeping our home clean and workable.
For this reason, we accepted the TRASH CHALLENGE: the modern world can be a pretty dirty place, with plastic bottles. In an attempt to try and clean up some of what’s been left behind, users across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram have started to clean up polluted areas near them and are sharing their stories across social media.
We invite you to embrace this initiative, as we did.
Too often we don’t think of all the energy that we consume everyday. Let us pause for a moment and reflect on how we must save energy and pollute less but remember it’s not a question of saving energy only, it’s a question of SAVING OURSELVES.
From “Tips for Earth Day” written by A. Sannino, M. Ruotolo and M. Matarazzo.
You are not saving (only) the Earth, you are saving yourself, your future and your life.
