Probably, you have never thought about a connection between Easter and this island, but you will be surprised to know that it exists!
It was in the early 18th century when the Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen was sailing the south Pacific. In his exploration, he "discovered" the island on Sunday, April 5, 1722 - which just so happened to be Easter that year on the Christian calendar. In honor of the day, he named the Polynesian island “Paasch-Eyland” - Dutch for "Easter Island”
